Welcome to the University of Roehampton Law Society. As one of the fastest-growing societies on campus, we aim to provide students with academic, social and networking opportunities, whilst ensuring that their time at Roehampton is fun and memorable.
HELPING YOU KICK-START YOUR CAREER!
On behalf of everyone at the Roehampton Law Society, I wish to extend a warm welcome to the 2020/21 academic year.
I am honoured and privileged to have been elected president of the Law Society here at Roehampton. I will do my best to meet the challenge. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the great performance of our previous leaders Jeffrey and Sophie, under who’s leadership the Society had achieved remarkable feats that led to its nomination for several awards at the RSU Awards 2020. Congratulations to our new vice president Aimee and our new committee members. As the new committee, we wish to build on the foundations set by our predecessors to make the society grow further and receive the same if not, greater accolades.
Throughout the year, we hope to cater our events to give greater insight into the varying career paths an LLB law degree can provide. Whether it be a barrister, solicitor or any other legal career. We hope to become more engaged with legal networking events. We already hold pre-existing relations with the likes of Kingston Law Society and London South Bank Law Society - allowing you to form such connections. We also hope to make you aware of the relevant and available tools to aid with your commercial awareness.
Throughout the year, we will hold noteworthy events such as the Law Fair, mooting competitions, an end of year Law Ball and President's drinks at Christmas. My hope is to have a completed calendar by the end of the first month of each academic term, so you are made aware of all our events.
Working part-time during the academic year has made me aware of the struggles students face whilst studying. Although the emphasis is placed on building professional networks, I hope you also use the society to build a strong support network.
I hope you find your time studying law at the University of Roehampton enjoyable, and I look forward to seeing you at our events.
Shoamar Best (President), Aimee Peacock (Vice President) and Rebekka Kreisz ( Treasurer) were elected as officers of the executive committee. The new committee will take over on May 11th, 2020.
